We had the opportunity to view still life compositions by some famous artists. The artist introduced us to the colour wheel and pointed out the complementary colours - opposites on the colour wheel. She explained that complementary colours were selected by those marketing products as they caught the eye of the shopper.
It wasn’t long before we had a go ourselves, creating a still life of a vase and orange. We talked about shape, line and colour as we worked with pencil, watercolours and oil pastels.
