Investigating Gyrocopters
A gyrocopter looks like a small helicopter made from paper or card that doesn’t have an engine.
Today we worked in groups to design our own fair test using gyrocopters.
We learnt for a test to be fair we needed to ensure:
*one thing was changed;
*everything else stayed the same;
*one thing was measured or observed.
Some groups changed the size or length of the gyrocopter. Other groups used different materials or layers.
We tested our gyrocopters to see which gyrocopter stayed in the air the longest. We repeated the test three times to help ensure our results were reliable.
After discussing our results, we concluded that lighter and larger-winged gyrocopters stayed in the air the longest.
