Firework Safety Talk from PSNI (18th Oct)
We welcomed two police officers to our school this morning to remind us about how to keep safe at this time of year!
Remember, you must be 18 or over to handle fireworks and you must have a licence to let them off. Always be considerate of elderly neighbours and pets. Bangers and fireworks can frighten some people.
Children can have sparklers but must hold them close to the end that doesn’t burn. Even better, stick the sparkler into a carrot. Always stand well away from others when your sparkler is lit. Never throw it up into the air! When finished, place the sparkler in a bucket of sand or water.
Children should never knock on strangers’ doors. They should only call at houses of friends or family. It is always better to have an adult with you!
