Farm Safety Poster Competition
Design a farm safety poster and win a £30 voucher! The icing on the cake is that you will also have your design published in the HSE’s Farm Safety calendar distributed to children across the province!
The Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI) is committed to eliminating accidents on farms resulting in children being killed. As a part of their ‘Be aware kids - Child safety on farms’ campaign they are running a poster competition open to all primary school pupils. This will run each week in June, July and August - a total of twelve weeks.
Children should draw or paint a picture on one of the key dangers: slurry; farm animals; tractors and other farm machinery; falls and falling objects.
There will be a focus danger each week - announced every Monday on HSENI’s Facebook page and on their website www.hseni.gov.uk. Terms and conditions can be found on the HSENI website.
Entries must be presented portrait style on either A3 or A4 plain paper. A photograph or scan of the completed picture should be emailed to safestart @hseni.gov.uk. A cover note on the email should state the child’s name, primary school attended and the contact number of a parent or responsible adult.
A winner will be selected each week for 12 weeks and winners will be notified the following week. Each of the 12 winners will receive a £30 One-4all gift card and have their drawing published in the farm safety calendar. It is most important to keep original drawings as these will be used during the printing process should you be a winner. Failure to provide an original drawing will result in the prize not being awarded.
For more information on child safety on farms go to www.hseni.gov.uk/articles/be-aware-kids-child-safety-farms-campaign or you can email safestart@hseni.gov.uk.
Keep your drawings bright,eye-catching and decipherable from a distance. Have you included a short warning clearly printed on the poster? Have fun!
Enjoy your summer break but remember to keep safe on the farm!
