Exploring the Bernoulli Effect
2nd Oct 2023
Today we blew over the surface of a strip of paper to see the Bernoulli Effect in action. When we caused faster moving air above the strip of paper, this created an area of low pressure, causing the strip of paper to move upwards.
A famous Dutch mathematician discovered this effect and scientists and engineers use this knowledge in their designs.
For example, aeroplane wings are shaped with an upper curve, causing air to move faster over the top of the wing and thus creating lift.
