We welcomed our partner school ‘Deravoy National School’ to a cultural identity workshop facilitated by Stephen, Maryam and Patricia of Speedwell Trust.
Firstly, we chatted to pupils from Deravoy to identify three similarities and differences. Next we considered the term ‘identity’ in terms of age, our family, where we live, the school we attend and our membership of clubs, organisations and churches, etc.
Next we tried to identify world nationalities from photo clues (famous landmarks, national dress, music, flags, food, etc).
Later on we learnt about the flags that represent cultures within Ireland. There was a final challenge when we worked with Deravoy pupils to match clues with culturally linked objects.
