A Glorious Day for our Gallant Girls at Ardmore Hockey Tournament

9th Apr 2025

After playing six games in the heats of the George Compston Memorial Tournament at Ardmore, our girls had a final game to play in competition for the bronze medal.

They had already played Cortamlet in the heats which ended in a 1:1 draw.  The girls knew they had to do one better in their final game of the tournament.

As the game got underway, there was a line of Cortamlet parents cheering their team on.  Our girls, however, weren’t going to let this distract them.  They kept their minds on the game and with grit, skill and great teamwork they achieved a magnificent 2:0 win for KPS.  It would have been 3:0 but for a goal that the referee disallowed early on.

There were some super goals from Amy, Isla and Ruby during the competition but every member of the team played their part to ensure that KPS left with a magnificent bronze medal.  Girls - well done to each and every one of you!

A special mention has to go to our goalkeeper, Elsa, who only started training with the team late last week.  The referees voted her best competitor in the girls’ tournament!  She got lots of hugs and congratulations from all the team.  A day to remember, Elsa!

It did not go unnoticed the time and effort Christine Russell and Leanne Abraham devoted to ensuring a super tournament for all competitors.  Thank you ladies!
