Hello P1 and P2!

Mrs Lowry here again!  What have you been up to since last week?  I have seen some great photos of your Jack and the Beanstalk activities!  I’ve had a few chats with some of you on the phone and hope to get some time this week to speak to some more of you!   Alex was telling me that he can ride his bike now – well done!   I would love to hear more of your messages!

So this week is a special week as we celebrate VE day so you will be getting a day off on Friday with no school work..yeah!

So let’s make a start today.

PRIMARY ONE: Wednesday 6th May 2020

Phonics:

Complete phonic booklet

Mental Maths:

I can count forwards from a given number within 20.

·         Let’s do some PE with our mental maths today – find a small soft toy/ball.

·         Your big person will throw the toy [GENTLY!!] to you and say a number eg 12.

·         You throw it back to them and say the next number [13] and they t hrow it back and say 14 etc until

           you get to 20.

·         Concentrate and see if you can finish without dropping!

Numeracy:

I can add to 10

Find the “Add it up with Jack” worksheet. Use your numberline and make sure your are writing your numbers correctly and neatly!

Literacy:

I can sequence an activity in the right order.

·         Look at the Video clips attached below: Bean Dairy and follow the instructions. [Apologies but

the first bit of video is missing!  I have gone outside to my garden to read our story today...]

·         You will need “Growing Seeds” worksheet, scissors and glue.

PRIMARY TWO: Wednesday 6th May 2020

Phonics:

Complete next activity in  phonic booklet

Mental Maths:

I know doubles to 10 + 10

·         Get out your whiteboard and quickly write out your doubles

Eg 1 + 1 =

2 + 2 =

·         Which one[s] do you find tricky? Write them on a piece of paper and put it on the fridge so you can remember them later.

Numeracy:

I can link addition and  subtraction facts to 5.

Complete these sums in your numeracy

0 + 5 =         5 – 0 =

1 + 4 =         5 – 1 =

2 + 3 =         5 – 2 =

3 + 2 =         5 – 3 =

4 + 1 =         5 – 4 =

5 + 0 =         5 – 0 =

[ADULT: please look at each set of two sums eg 0+5 and 5-0  . For each set of sums we use the same 3 numbers [5,0,5] Get your child to identify the 2 numbers used in each pair eg 1 + 4 and 5 – 1 : numbers are 1,4,5.

You child might also identify number patterns down the page eg in first column numbers count up from 0 to 5 while second column they count down from 5-0]

Literacy:

See P1 notes.
